6 designs destined
to dominate 2025

We’ve handpicked the interior designs destined to dominate 2025 and beyond. These fresh takes on how we apply paint, hang art, zone rooms and colour-drench spaces will inspire us to think differently about the way our homes feel and function in the year ahead.

1. Paint effects

Paint effects will have a big and splashy presence in 2025. They’re the natural evolution of creative colour blocking. Dazzling geometric patterns on ceilings, whimsical line-drawn figures on walls, artistic gesso finishes, velveteen limewashes, stone-buffed gold leaf – paint effects can be as boundless as they are transformative, and people won’t be able to get enough of them.

2. Singular statement art

Whether it’s a punchy abstract, a Renaissance-inspired oil, a glossy fashion photograph or even an AI-generated still life – singular statement art will be big in all senses of the word. People have wised up to the economical force of one large piece of art – the way it can create an arresting focal point and pull an interior scheme together. Also, people’s values have changed, so they’d rather invest in one quality heirloom, than in lots of smaller, lesser-value pieces.

3. Mixed-media art

Wall art isn’t limited to paintings and photographs. From sculptural bricolage to decorative plates – if you can hang it, go for it. And don’t worry about the ‘rules’ for hanging – rules are to be broken. So have fun splaying ceramics across a bare wall, playing with scale, arranging art asymmetrically, and displaying unusual artefacts in unexpected places around the home. The more you experiment, the greater chance you have of stumbling across a striking composition.

4. Architectural zoning

Broken plan living made a comeback during the pandemic – and it stuck. So we’ll see a lot more care, craft and creativity poured into room dividers in 2025. These structures will form new ‘architectural’ focal points in the home. At Centre Point Residences, we created a geometrically shaped room divider with open shelves, coloured panes of glass, and a marble bioethanol fireplace to zone a large open-plan living room. This piece utilises the space, makes sense of its dimensions, and enables us to create two distinct living and dining areas.

5. Stealthy zoning

Stealthy zoning is the simplest way to make the most of a large space. It doesn’t require free-standing screens or built-in dividers, just a bit of smart furniture planning. And that’s why we’ll see a lot more of it in 2025 – because everyone can have a go. At The OWO Residences, we zoned the living room into formal and informal sections with just a large L-shape sofa. This prominent piece divides the room, cordoning off a relaxed TV area. While on the other side, a compact sofa, swivel chairs and coffee table create a cosy, conversational spot, perfect for receiving guests and catching up on gossip.

6. Colour drenching

Pick a colour you like and liberally apply it. It’s a swift, smart way to give a room character. We like to colour drench using mineral-rich paints, not only for their eco-friendly, non-toxic credentials, but because the finish is deeper and longer lasting. That way, if you choose to see red, green or even acid yellow everywhere you turn, you’ll always see the very best version of it. Colour drenching will be everywhere in 2025 in more ways than one.
