A new residential oasis in London’s famous royal borough
Redefining luxury living: Lancer Square, Kensington W8
The Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea has it all – monuments, museums, royal parks, Victorian and Art Nouveau architecture, fashion, swagger and now Lancer Square. With so much to feed off, we set to work blending a little sartorial style with a dash of bohemian nonconformity and a bounty of new- and old-school craft techniques. The result is a characterful, comfortable and creatively inspired home fit for a King.
You’ve arrived…
Wall coverings of light and dark wood marquetry add warmth, depth, texture and pattern to the entrance hall. Other materials include a forged-bronze console, an intricate brocatelle weave on the bench seat, and an abstract patchwork of mocha, ochre and black-dyed linens. Together, these elements feel quietly assured like you’ve stepped inside a private members’ club.

Mint Condition
Pale-mint walls provide a light and fresh backdrop for statement pieces, including a handwoven tapestry, a glass chandelier of hand-formed discs, and a glossy table covered in thousands of tiny eggshells. It’s an uplifting space designed to kickstart the day the right way.

Copper showstopper
We clad a large expanse of living room wall in panels of etched, copper-hued wood. The material’s rich, rusty tones and innate tactility make for a warm and impactful design feature. It’s functional, too, as the mounted painting can glide across in both directions to reveal a large TV.

A modern twist
From the surging waves of intensely pigmented blues in Trevor Bell’s modernist masterpiece to the mid-century chandelier of twisted Murano-glass sheets – the dining room celebrates Kensington’s associations with the modern, vintage, bohemian and artistic.
Green to
be seen
A charismatic combination of kombu-green paint and petrol-blue leather creates a reassuringly calm and pared back space, just the thing to sharpen the mind before getting down to business.

“Angel O’Donnell’s designs are exceptionally well-crafted – but also unexpected, filled with unusual features that give new meaning to what super-prime luxury is all about. They promised us something different and they delivered.”

Go retro
The principal bedroom pays homage to the bustling Kensington Market of the 70s with bold repeat patterns and a distinctive palette of orange, avocado and earthy brown. We’ve refined the look with handcrafted bedsides featuring expressive bronze work, cylindrical glass lamps with hand-applied gold flakes, and a full-height upholstered wall with walnut inlay.
Meet the panel(s)
Textured bedsides of eucalyptus and sculpted bronze. Cylindrical lamps of intricately-veined marble. Brushed-fringed cushions. Woven wallpaper. And a super king bed nestled into a gently curved upholstered wall for added cosiness. Every component fine-tuned to make guests feel warmly welcome.
