How The Dumont changed
everything for Angel O’Donnell

It was during lockdown. Factories were shut. Shipments suspended. And projects shelved. Even our rented office had closed its doors until further notice.

This was a scary time – a make-or-break time – for a fledging interior design studio. We had to act fast, pick up the phone, and find work.

A contact at Berkeley Group mentioned they were reviewing tendered designs for a huge sub-penthouse with a 1,300sq ft terrace at The Dumont, Albert Embankment. If we were interested in pitching, we’d have just a week to submit our proposal. Of course we were interested.

We pitched our ideas

We won the job and installed the project – all during the pandemic. Everything – except lights, fabrics and artwork – was designed inhouse and made by local craftspeople. We did this to:

• Reduce supply chains
• Dodge disruptions
• Keep an eye on quality
• Ensure timelines were hit.

It worked

The colourful, pattern-rich home we delivered – on time, in budget, to an exacting standard – sold for £8.5M with all FF&E included.

We did it

We survived. Better than that, we proved we could pull together, take control in a tough situation, and flourish. If we had ever doubted ourselves prior to that experience, we certainly didn’t afterwards.

Since then, our team of two has grown to twelve – skilled, confident, and ready to deliver the very best product for our clients…come hell, lockdown, or high tariffs.
